Started a whole mess of trouble over one comment that got me a little nervous. "Am I picking favorites? Oh no! Now I have to be careful and not pick certain people so I don't look like I'm doing that!" (That's the dumbest concern ever, I hope I never think it again).
I was actually impressed by the number of people who got into the fray with such passion, and I had really underestimated the convictions of the other artists.

Starr : u can't please everyone so just please urself and pick what inspires u to greater heights.

I am actually considering it, since it'd give me chances to draw things that aren't for class, but I'm unsure if I even have the time to do so right now; I'd have to limit how many I take so I don't get overwhelmed and not finish any
I'll see. Maybe I will. Must say, you thinking my art is good enough is quite a confidence boost there

Sorry to harp on this again, but I really don't think this is the case. The few times I've seen a freebie thread pop up (at least in my relatively short stay here), I see lots of random people drawn.
I remember Tzu's freebie thread, most of them were for people I had never seen here. Also, in my old freebie thread (a loooong time ago), I drew kerwyn's war, eeks' necro, US' mesmer, narcissa's rit, and your necro simply because I liked how they looked. I didn't really know any of you guys at the time, so I think it's safe to say it wasn't for friends. Hoodie's thread seems to be pretty random as well, altho I dunno if he actually has a secret relation with chicken and verene
I can't remember all of the old threads, just my friends' and most of them were pretty random about their choices. Perhaps I just have a selective memory, but I think the freebies here weren't that biased (and even if they were slightly selective towards friends, I can understand that).
My recent threads were not unbiased, and I made it pretty pointedly so. In the soul thread, it was a fun diversion for me, and I had no idea the situation would happen. And in my comic thread, well :P I haven't go around to far enough to be really a good example. Sorry about that if that's what you were pointing to. The threads were just for me to have fun, it wasn't a "draw the best character" kind of thing.

I wasn't actually pointing fingers, nor do I think it is necessarily a bad thing to do art for people you like. It is the leading people hopeful of getting their character done a merry dance, by getting them to take time posting pictures on a list that would eventually come down to friends.

As I said it, it wasn't an accusation, simply an observation. Take it or leave it, I'm not really bothered but people do seem to keep bringing up this concern about Nolani which is a little strange if none of these things are happening.
It hasn't, to the best of my knowledge, needed a "state of Nolani" thread before the last few months but people do seemingly love to discuss it.

I say people are too sensitive for their own good. Or maybe they are too greedy for their own good... Idk, no matter what you do, there will be someone to complain about something, so meh. Just take it in stride I say and let them feel however they want to feel. ;-) Our uber mods are here to stop 'em if their feelings get too out of control. (what? kiss-ass? me? NO!)

First off, everything Hoodie said to start off with I completely agree with. In fact, he basically expanded on what I had said in Starr's thread (which, understandably, got deleted).

Because he wouldn't let it be. If he had simply left the thread with no response, no one would have needed to reply. Instead he chose to "feed the trolls" (except in this case they weren't trolls...but I hope you understand what I mean).

It would be a lot simpler to just PM somebody if you fancy doing a spot of art for them.

I understand what you mean, really. However I don't think it happens all that often, but I can think of one person who really tends to do this. (cough )

LOL, you guys, this thread continues to be closed because a good number of you are trolling in it. If you want discussion, then discuss, please don't use this as an IM or IRC chat channel. Throwing around one-liners and jokes is just going to result in this thread again being closed. Some of you are also close to personal attacks as well. Please stay on topic and contributing and we won't have any problems at all keeping this thread open.

Well, maybe someone should open a non Guild Wars art thread...? I am requested to do a non GW commission.
I thought you weren't allowed to start art threads for non GW things :S

Art is art. GW or not this is the art section. Would not mind seeing more non gw art.

I'd completely be on starting a commission thread for non GW art, with several artists to choose from, like the sticky thread with all the commissioners, but the artists post their rules in the thread instead (makes it a lot easier for the ones who would want to buy some).
Think that would be a good idea?
